What's a doula?

What's a doula? Simply put a doula is a birth coach. Doulas are experienced, non-medical assistants who provide various forms of support in prenatal care, during childbirth and during the postpartum period.

Several of our friends have worked with doulas during and after their births and have said wonderful things about how it has helped them during labor and afterwards. With such great feedback, we decided to begin our search in the hopes that we would find someone that fits with our personalities and our goals.

This has been a tough process! Being in the SF Bay Area, there are many, many doulas to choose from all with different levels of experience and backgrounds. Luckily after interviewing 4 doulas and attending a "meet the doulas night" we have finally decided who will partner with us for our birth. Boy does it feel good to have made this big decision!
