Happy Birthday to Jeff & 39 Weeks... (1 week until 'due date')

For Jeff's birthday on Monday, we went out to a nice dinner and for a walk to celebrate Jeff's birthday.  The munchkin has decided to arrive closer to his/her due date and will end up being  a belated birthday gift for Jeff.

We also had our 39 week doctor appointment Monday and the doc said it could really be any day now. Unfortunately, this past Tuesday was the last on call day for our doctor until the end of the first week of June, so unfortunately, we won't know who will deliver the baby but that's pretty typical around here.

Last night I went to what will probably be my last pre-natal yoga class for this baby. It was pretty unreal! The instructor has been awesome and its been a joy to make her class part of my  weekly routine. Her parting words for me were "breathe, just remember to breathe."

Finally, today is my last day of work in the office. Its hard to believe that when I leave today, I won't be back in the office working for about 4 months. The certainty of work has been comforting for me and its been a little hard to detach. I feel READY, so here it goes!

Munchkin's Nursery is Complete!

The nursery is finally done! Its been so much fun making our vision a reality. We absolutely love the yellow walls and the giraffes, of course!

Maternity Photo Shoot

Rhee Bevere has done it again. Rhee graciously offered to take some maternity photos of us a few weeks ago. These are a few of our favorites. Thank you, Rhee, for working your magic (as always)! We had so much fun!

Last but not least - our favorite!!!

March Madness!

It seems we are getting traveling out of our system for awhile as we have been gone almost every weekend this month. Things will calm down (traveling-wise) in April with plenty of time to allow us to 'prepare' for munchkins arrival.

I was in L.A. the first weekend of March to celebrate Liliana Grace's first birthday and dedication. It was so wonderful to see so much of Liliana's family and friends in one place to celebrate such an important milestone for her and her family. Its always great to see one of my dearest friends, Christina, and her husband and family. And Liliana sure enjoyed her first taste of cake!

The mommas and their kiddos

Liliana just can't get enough

The following weekend we headed to Atlanta for a short, long-weekend visiting our Atlanta friends. We stayed with our close friends Miriam & Seth and their pup Ruby for the weekend. On Sunday, Miriam & Seth and Katie & Shaun hosted a get together so we could see many of our Atlanta friends and celebrate munchkin. It was so wonderful to see everyone, especially since it might be a little while before we make it back to Atlanta. We are so grateful to them for hosting!

During the only weekend we have been in town this month we were super busy with our garage demo project. Every year the city of Santa Clara allows residents to dump any non-toxic garbage on the street for pick up. We took this as an opportunity to tear out the ugly, old shelving in the garage (the house's kitchen countertops from back in the day - we think) and put in garage storage units to get us organized. Jeff and Chris worked hard all weekend, and I, of course, stayed out of it. My contribution was organizing everything into large storage bins for the shelves and even that wore me out! I'd say we are about 85% done but will definitely finish up before munchkin arrives.

And there's more...this past weekend we were showered by family in friends in L.A. More to follow in a separate post.

Yup, there is definitely a munchkin in there!

We have been super busy (and productive) the last few weeks. Here's what we have been up to:
  • Putting together the crib and nursery furniture
  • Painting the baby's room YELLOW :)
  • Finally getting our crib bedding
  • Signing up for birth classes
  • Meeting with our doula
  • A few other house projects
  • And all the other normal life stuff, of course - work, friends, family, dogs, etc., etc.
FYI - we plan on posting photos of our nursery, but you will have to wait a few more weeks until we are done :)

Here are my 27 week stats:

Best moment this week: Finally getting our crib bedding!
What I miss: Wine :)
Movement: Lots of it! This munchkin is one active kiddo! Not only can you feel it but boy (no, we do not know what we are having) you can see this baby move. Thankfully, munchkin settles down at night and lets me sleep.
Food cravings: Still no food cravings (or aversions, for that matter)
Sleep: Still sleeping well - thank goodness. Hoping this will continue.
Maternity clothes: I have outgrown some of my early maternity wear but have enough to get me by. I much rather save to buy clothes for when the munchkin arrives.

The First of Many Firsts

This past week had a few major firsts for me. So far I have only been able to watch as Lauren experiences the kicks and movements of the baby.  Last Monday I saw with my own eyes the baby kick, punch, or meringue in there. By the time I got my hand on her belly, the baby decided to go back to using Lauren's organs as punching bags.  Everyday this week Lauren has grabbed my hand, "Did you feel that? Do you feel this?" But no, I never felt a thing.

Finally, Friday Lauren grabs my hand and BOOM, I felt the baby.  Well, it was less like BOOM, and more like boom since baby is not that strong yet.  Not sure what limb it was, but I assume he/she was giving me a high five!

Until tonight it had been a few days since I felt the baby for the first time.   I am not sure if it was the potstickers for dinner, the popcorn while we are on the couch, or watching "How I Met Your Mother," but the baby was going crazy tonight moving all over the place.  I think the baby likes them some Robin Scherbatski. It is so exciting to be able to feel the baby. It makes the experience even more real. It is actually happening - we are going to be parents.

Now on to the nursery...

And since its been a few weeks since we posted a photo, here's Lauren @ 24 Weeks
